Seven miles north of Nanaimo real estate, the picturesque seaside village of Lantzville elegantly sits on the east coast of Vancouver Island, a wonderful place to learn the fine art of beachcombing!  Part of the mysterious beauty of Lantzville exudes from the diverse cultural mélange at the heart of her 4,000 proud residents.

Two distinct but complementary regions, Upper and Lower Lantzville, present a wide variety of Lantzville neighborhoods and Lantzville homes in the region.  Choosing from mobiles to golf-course estates, to ocean retreats, and quaint in-town neighborhoods, buyers of northern Nanaimo real estate and Lantzville real estate are able to find just the right homes in a variety of beautiful settings.

Nanaimo real estate and the areas to the north including Lantzville have recently seen the proliferation of golf courses.  The Nanaimo Golf Club is a demanding 18-hole course with fantastic views of the water.  The Winchelsea View Golf Course offers an 18-hole golf course near some exquisite Lantzville real estate, and features spectacular views of the Strait of Georgia and the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia’s mainland.

Lower Lantzville encompasses most of the in-town residential and commercial areas including landmarks such as the Lantzville Hotel (circa 1924), the Lantzville Market, the Lantzville Pub, Huddlestone Park, Rotary Park, and the extensive beaches on the Lantzville shoreline.
The possibilities for recreational experiences are as endless as the waves lapping the shores.  Besides swimming and golfing, a fair number of people ride the 12-km Blackjack Ridge Round Lake Loop south of town on mountain bikes.  Others explore the Qualicum National Wildlife Area located at the western end of Nanoose Harbour, 5 miles west of town where more than 200 species of plants and 190 species of birds and animals live in the wilderness.

Some paddle Nanoose and Bonell creeks that flow through the area to the bay or freshwater fish on one of the lakes stocked with rainbow and cutthroat trout.  Others hike through the Garry oak forests that predominate on the narrow headland that shelters the Pipers Lagoon.  Most everyone appreciates a walk through the profuse wildflowers during springtime or gushing through the sand on the beach to photograph the Columbia black-tailed deer in the sunset.

Named after American miner Fraser Harry Lantz who opened a mine in Nanoose, every year the community celebrates Mine Town Days.  When the mines closed, the waterfront miners' shacks became rentals for people in search of a quiet cabin on the beach.   Before becoming the 155st municipality of British Columbia in 2003, the young community was simply a suburb of the larger city on its southern border.  Today, she is growing an identity all her own and each newcomer is a part of the mystique.
